Can you give me real world examples that back up your opinion? I can write with some authority because it is based on my work experience of twelve years. Is what you write based on experience or simply ideological belief?

Newsflash. We have private medicine. Most of our doctors are independent businesses just like Dentists. They are just paid through our tax dollars but they are not employees of the state.

Socialism promotes infinite growth because it needs to consume ever more resources to provide an equal standard of living amongst everyone. The NDP in Manitoba has consistently ignored the true environmental costs of MB Hydro because Socialism ignores costs to focus on short term benefits. Capitalism passes those costs onto the customer, who then freely needs to adjust their spending patterns.

Your example of Open Source beautifully represents the dynamics of capitalism that allows people to freely create and then decide to share. Many open source companies have successfully transitioned into profitable enterprises. Have you heard about eco-capitalism? There are thousand of companies that actively promote environmental sustainability and are profitable doing it.

Finally, Socialism will always be top down because it is an ideological system. For any ideology to survive it needs to be imposed upon. As I said, sharing occurs naturally in all economic systems. Capitalism just says the decision to share rests with the individual. Sounds empowering and more natural to me.

Capitalism is based on growth, growth is unsustainable.

Socialism does not need to be based on top down statism.

Marx wrote extensively about ecology...as a Green I learnt to be red and ecosocialist ideas are the great hope for humanity.

Sharing = socialism.

Private medicine means control by big pharmaceutical companies, hyper profits from human suffering.

If you don't like the s word, call it open source but capitalism is a cancer
